Review:
This was the most unique idea I've ever seen for a piece of fiction. I was skeptical when I first started reading since I'm not a big fan of LOTR but I quickly found myself utterly absorbed in the story and the characters within it.

The attention to detail throughout was so incredible and everything was wrapped up so neat and tidy by the end. Your writing style, ideas and attention to detail reminded me of Isaac Asimov's Robot series. I can't even begin to fathom the amount of research, time and dedication you've put into this but thank you for following it though and posting it for readers like myself to find and enjoy. My words aren't nearly as eloquent as your own but I hope they let you know, at least a little, how much I enjoyed reading this story and how appreciative I am of your efforts.
Comments from author:
I'm truly flattered by your comments. It's always nice when a reader recognizes how much work went into a story and appreciates it. Thank you for that. I hope to one day revisit this universe and pick up the tale in the Second Age.

Thank you for both your review and recommendation.

Review:
Wow. You're a truly talented author and should be published. I was moved to tears several times and very much look forward to hearing about Buffy in the Second Age. Her return to the east is something I was really hoping you would get to in this story. I was very surprised that when she was reuniting with everyone in Mandos that she didn't see Lalwen. I did very much enjoy reading this epic and don't mean to be nit-picky but two things really bugged me in the reading of this. First, as much I and obviously you enjoy Styx, I just can't picture Buffy being a fan. Certainly not enough of one to have been able to teach their songs to the elves. Second was every time you said "Sweet Madame Blue" instead of "Suite Madame Blue."
Comments from author:
*blushes* Thank you so much for your kind words. I truly appreciate the feedback and am glad to hear that you've enjoyed my story. As you've read, I've already plotted out several story lines that will take place in the east during the Second Age. After devoting six years of my life to this one story, I'm not quite ready to commit myself to writing another monster epic. Maybe in a year or two, I'll be ready. Who knows? In my eagerness to finish this tale, I did omit several of the reunion 'scenes' in Mandos, including the one with Lalwen.

In regards to the comments regarding Styx, I did have Buffy's musical tastes evolve (for the better) once she began dating the Immortal, who was a fan of classic rock. The deviation in the spelling of 'Suite Madame Blue' was intentional. Since I decided to make it Buffy's theme song, if you will, I changed the spelling of 'suite' to 'sweet' to reflect her. Keep in mind, the Elves had never heard the original version, so she was free to change the lyrics as she saw fit. Sorry that you found that annoying.

Any way, I've rambled long enough. Thanks again for your review.

EDIT: This story is on my CoA Nominee Candidate list.

EDIT 2: Did you know that your story is the longest story posted here on Twisting the Hellmouth?
Comments from author:
Thanks, Dragonelf! :-) My muse also thanks you for all the munchies. It's nice to hear that you feel that my story is worthy of a nomination. *bows* While I don't expect to ever win anything, I do appreciate the gesture nonetheless.

Yeah, I've noticed that my story is the longest on this site. It's been a labor of love, that's for sure. *grins*

It might be a while before you read anything else from me. I've decided to take a break from writing fan fiction so that I can work on some original stuff. But, I'll be back again, some day...

Cheers!

Thanks so much! One of these days I'll get around to writing it, I think. I just need to get Middle-earth out of my mind for a while. It's like I'm on Tolkien overload. LOL!

Woooooooooooooooooooo! End of an epic :)

And on a more serious note. Awesome stuff. You started a massive story and actually finished it (though I got the impression that you would after a few hundred thousand invested words). I hope that, now that it's finished, it'll attract more readers. It, and you, certainly deserve it.
Comments from author:
Thanks for your kind words. I was determined to finish this and can't believe I *finally* did it. I never realized how long it would take me to write this story. And I hope you're right that more people will give it a read now that it's done.

Review of chapter "Chapter One Hundred Twenty-Five: Two to Go" from AntiCreator
Review:
Amazing. What a chapter. I wasn't confused, when I said final battle, I was under the impression that Turin and Melkor would actually, well, do battle. As you can see, this wasn't what I had envisioned at all, but still, what you wrote was amazing.

I did kind of guess that Turin would have to kill Buffy. Otherwise, some of what was said in Buffy's halls didn't make sense, and why else would she tell Turin that it was she who killed Hurin, followed by "use that, when the time comes".

I'm curious as to what the next chapter will be about. I'm guessing the general aftermath.

Remember those emails you sent me some time ago, when I asked about the death of a spirit? Well, I lost them some time ago, and my memory being what it is, I can't recall too much about them. If it ain't too much trouble would you be able to send them to me again, unless we find out in the next chapter what will now happen to Buffy and Melkor.

I can see it's coming to the end, I can't imagine there being more than one or two chapters remaining, but please don't end this story on a cliffhanger. You say you need a break, and after six years and over 800,000 words, no one has earned it more, but it may well be a few years until we see a sequel, and that's IF you decide to write it. Anyway mate, I hope to see the next (and last?) chapter soon so until then, laters.
Comments from author:
Glad you liked it... And it appears *I* was the one confused, not you. LOL! At least the ending of this chapter was not what you were expecting - that's what I was shooting for.

The next chapter will have several different elements to it - none of which I will reveal until I post it. The story won't end on a cliffhanger, I promise. There will be an air of finality to it - sorta, kinda, in a way.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of those old emails. They were sent through the TtH system directly to you, so I have no copies of them. Sorry. I'm sure that after you read the next chapter, you'll totally understand what happens to both Buffy and Melkor... and I'll leave it at that. ;-)

Once again, I thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. It's greatly appreciated.

Nononono, please don't tell me this is the last chapter!!!

Such a waste to end such a perfectly good story!
Comments from author:
A waste? Really? That's *so* not the reaction I was going for... maybe an ironic chuckle. ;-) But, don't fret, deary, there's still one more chapter to this tale.

Thanks for your feedback!

Review of chapter "Chapter One Hundred Twenty-Four: Chosen" from AntiCreator
Review:
Another AWESOME chapter. Finally, the last battle is about to begin.

I'm pleased to see that at least Olofin agrees with me, about Angel doing what he had to. I truly thought that you didn't believe that. I remember series 5 quite clearly, and yes Angel did kill Drogyn, I hadn't forgotten that, but the point I meant to and perhaps should have made in that review, was exactly the point that Olofin made in this chapter.

Now, like I said, it's been a long time since I read the story of Aldarion and Erendis, but what was the whole deal with that 'Don't speak his name in my presence' thing. Whose name? Why? Will rereading it shed some light on this, or will I have to wait and see, if and when, you reveal it? Also, her 'dark days will come' comment. What was meant by that? Surely a heavenly realm is supposed to be free from dark days. I'm also intrigued by the fact that Sargon killed him more than once. It seems as though the two of them have one hell of a history with each other, and more than a little bad blood.

It was nice to see her reunion with Legolas. I always wondered if the two of them had ever met. I was quite certain she'd never met any of the others of the Fellowship, but with Legolas being Thranduil's son, I'd thought it likely, what with Buffy and Thranduil being so close.

I have to ask, I can't recall the name, but is Amarie, the wife of Finrod, the one who died in the crossing of the Helcaraxe? I mean, it was Finrod who lost his wife that way, wasn't it? And if so, Amarie is that same elleth.

I also really liked the part where you said that her final conversation with Maglor is omitted from this tale, much like that with Ulmo. I find that very 'Tolkien-esque'. He did the same thing at times. By the way, that's not a criticism. I think with some things, it remains better if they are unrecorded, much like Elrond's last conversation with Arwen.

I take it Gurthang was reforged by Aule. Who better I suppose. And so the Mormegil goes to battle once more. And who better to slay Morgoth than one of those who was touched by his malice and evil more than anyone.

One final thing. If Morgoth is dead, then what did Buffy mean when she told Illyria she wanted nothing more than to 'return to the dark recesses of the world' with him? Does that mean he'll be reborn as he was in the beginning, free from evil and darkness, or does Buffy mean to go there alone?

Still, I suppose I'll find out soon enough, eh? If I have to wait for a sequel for any of the questions I've asked since I began reviewing this epic and amazing tale of yours, either you'd better bloody well write one, or at least give me the answers. Please mate.

I know I've said it many times before, but with the way you ended this chapter, I'm REALLY looking forward to the next one. Laters.
Comments from author:
Er, I think you might be confused. The final battle has already taken place, with the enemy pretty much achieving victory. Dagor Dagorath is the only war I didn’t write about since Buffy wasn’t really an active participant.

I admit I’m no Angel fan, and I took great pleasure in killing him off. However, since I’m writing this story from other peoples’ perspectives, my opinion doesn’t matter. They wouldn’t view him as I do.

The conversation between Buffy and Aldarion allude to events that take place during the Second Age. Re-reading any portion of this story won’t give you any clues. Those are future plotlines that I’ve already written out. The one with Sargon is especially amusing… at least to me. You’ll find out about the “dark days” comment at the end of this story.

Buffy loves Legolas like a grandson and he has accompanied her on a few adventures before the FotR. She is also quite friendly with Aragorn and Bilbo, and accompanies Sam to the havens after Rosie dies.

You’re confusing Amarië with Elenwë, Turgon’s wife. Elenwë died at the crossing of Helcaraxë. Amarië, was not yet Finrod’s wife, and remained in Valinor when the Noldor set out for Middle-earth. In my story, I have them getting married in the Second Age.

Happy to hear that you didn’t think that my omission of Buffy’s conversation with Maglor was a cop out. I felt the story would be better served if their parting words were left to the reader’s imagination.

Can’t say anything else about Morgoth’s demise, as you’ll find out about that soon enough, including Buffy’s fate.

While I know that you’re eager for a sequel to this story, I think that once I finish it, I want to take a break from Middle-earth for a while. I’ve spent 6 years working on this, and I really want to pursue other writing projects that I’ve put on hold since beginning this tale.

As always, I appreciate your thoughtful comments. I hope you like what’s to come.
