Review of chapter "Mr. Giles" from Broena
Review:
I think chan is the girl form of kun which is a word for someone who you know. Chan and kun is usually used by the younger generation and for the younger generation. I could be wrong about the second part but I don't think I'm wrong about the first part. I'm a big anime fan but I don't speak japanese, write it, or read it, though I do know some of the general terms usually dealing with mythology or animals. For example inu=dog, neko= cat uma=horse. Though I think this is common knowledge within the fancommunity that reads anime, especially Inuyasha.

In the film 'the next karate kid' the girl was always refered to as daughter which is why I used it here.

LOL!

Now here is an idea I haven't seen used in a Halloween fic, Giles being slipped a small item. That could be used on a lot of characters.
Comments from author:
Just an idea that I had sitting on my computer for a long time. You're right though it has potential off hand i can think of two or three different characters that it would work for. If I liked Dr. Who the Sonic screwdriver, a gold coin could be a pirate, a PKE meter for ghostbusters, a toy gun for anything from a detective to a soldier. So many potentials ideas now.

Actually -San refers both to males and females. It is the Japanese equivalent of Mr/s.

Fun story. I liked it but I think you made a mistake. In the original movie, Miyagi referred to Daniel as Daniel-san not son. San is the Japanese honorific used for males. Chan is used for females. (Buffy-chan, Willow-chan - you get the idea.) There are others such as sama that is like using Sir or Lord. Kun is used for males by people who are very close to them like spouses or girlfriends. I don't know all of them. Great story, though.
Comments from author:
Okay I can get where you are coming from. Its just that in the film 'the next karate kid' he refers to the girl as julie daughter so I presumed it was just a son instead of a san. Maybe I'l research and see if i can find the answer.
