Review of chapter "The second Halloween - part 2" from Vld
Review:
"L'Infini... des prairies bleues du ciel
Découvert, comme un grand livre ouvert
Et la Terre, cette bille éphémère
Qui prend quand l'étoile passe
Sa vraie place dans l'espace!"

I love that song, and i hope you take no offense in the fact i like the french version better... which, is quite a rarity in my case. I mostly like english or japanese music best, so...
Comments from author:
Absolutely none given that I discovered this cartoon in its French version when I was a kid.

Review of chapter "Epilogue" from raxadian
Review:
Great story, even if I did not agree with a few of the moral choices. For example, becoming a machine was okay but there was no talk about using the tech to give more organic bodies to those who lost them due to the Halloween spell.
Comments from author:
Thanks raxadian

The moral choices are deliberate. I wanted to give the impression that Muvian society was moving away of its original Terran/American roots.

The Muvians have, as you certainly guessed, adopted a full transhumanist point of view on things. They do not see what they are experiencing as becoming machines. To them, even a simple unaugmented human is a mind inside an organic machine. All what they are doing is improving the vessels of their minds, preferring quick and efficient planning to the slow work of evolution.

From this point, the body becomes a tool that can be adapted to one's job. At some point in the future, I can very well imagine a 'mature' Muvian society where a person has several bodies in stasis and wears the one adapted to the occasion (the manga Ghost in the Shell: Man-Machine Interface explores the concept. The Roleplaying Game Eclipse Phase also does a good job of describing that kind of society.).

So more organic bodies? Why not but that was not fundamental for the story. Most cyborgs are in advanced enough bodies that they have huge advantages over humans, particularly if they are soldiers. Others may have personal reasons like Andrew/Briareos not wanting to make anything to ruin his chances with Deunan.

I would have preferred Joynce experiments to improve Amy skills instead of spice. But I guess nano technology can get rid of the action.

She will remember, but it will be just a memory, I do not approve of destroying a person like that.

Review:
I hate Spice, because it comes from a culture that kind of forces people to keep consuming it or die. And Sam needs to stop swearing on the Styx, is dangerous.
Comments from author:
Well, when we think Spice, we often think about how the Fremen are completely addicted to the stuff and will die if deprived.

That would be forgetting the whole reason why Spice is the most precious substance in Dune's universe. Most people don't care about its effect on consciousness. They care about its effect on lifespan, immune system and the like.

I hope Carter learns the magic of the academy. Black magic is just too dangerous.
Comments from author:
She does. You may want to read the companion story to this one as it will give you some insight on how I see magic work in this universe as well as how Sam does integrate at the university
