Review of chapter "For the Love of Ermingard" from twlight
Review:
Oh my.......... wow. I love these short stories that are showing what had happened in the past and when other things were going on. I do have to say that you surprised me in that the Kings were in charge during the time of Joyce's parents and yet now the Ministry is in charge and have mucked things up so quickly and thoroughly AND removed most knowledge about the Kings and what they were supposed to do so quickly and easily. I can understand why the Malfoy family would not like the Peewit family but why does Lucious dispise the Weasley family? I hope that you can tell that I love this wonderful series and I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in either this part or the other they are both wonderful.
Comments from author:
Okay. First off, the Twelve Kings, even in the seventies, didn't really rule anymore. That was part of the problem, and what created the power vacuum that allowed Tom Riddle to rise into the position he did. The real difference is that between the death of the senior Malfoys and the current time, the Ministry (with Dumbledore's active help, actually) have thoroughly obfuscated the existence of the Twelve Kings, thinking that the Council would never be complete again, and therefore unable to exercise its traditional authority. The effective role of the Twelve Kings is not entirely unlike that of the Supreme Court in the USA, in that it really only convenes when the Ministry fouls up so badly that it violates the fundamental laws upon which it was created.

As for the Prewett/Weasley enmity, there were indicators that it was a bit more long-standing than just going back to Fabian's behavior toward Jocelyn - specifically, the fact that Fabian was a boorish lout toward her when she was ten. Lady Muriel constantly asking Ermingard when they were going to be having another child was the cause behind her not accompanying her family to shop for Lucius' school supplies his first year. The Prewetts as a family have been far too interested in the Malfoy family, and specifically the Malfoy fortune, for the last several generations, which is always a recipe for trouble. As to the reason it carried over to the Weasleys, that's simple. Molly Weasley is the last of the Prewetts. Fabian and Gideon were her older brothers. Therefore, if she turned out anything like her brothers, her goal would obviously be to find rich, high ranking noble wives for her sons. (We know she's not like that, but Lucius wouldn't). Also, Arthur is seen as something of an anomaly - he married FAR above his social status, yet does nothing with that residual influence, and seems to not have the usual ambition of a man who would marry a penniless princess, which would obviously be to rise in social standing. Arthur himself is the son of a disinherited Black - Cedrella Black, daughter of Arcturus Black III, the third born son of Phineas Black, the last active Black King before Harry. The problem is that Lucius expects the Weasleys to behave like the disaffected royals they are, and treats them with scorn because they were born with hereditary authority and yet are doing nothing to improve the lot of their people, from his perspective.

Hopefully that clarified things a bit. I'm glad to see you are enjoying the series, and I hope it continues to please. I can't promos to update anytime soon, but I haven't abandoned the tale, never fear.

Review of chapter "Something Muggle this way comes" from EllandrahSylver
Review:
*snickers* Yep, this works. Made me giggle, but poor Calypso. I love that you've been able to absorb my versions of the characters and give them just that bit more flavor...

Edit: *naughty smile* will it make it better if I say at least some of the ambiguity is going to be... disambiguated... in the next chapter?
Comments from author:
Thank you. I am not the one torturing poor Calypso, you are. I merely run with the material provided.

Happily I am. Though a lot happened lately. Also, Sylver is busy and that means little or no 'bounce time' for story ideas, which is where many of the ideas for these come from.

Review of chapter "Muggle is as Muggle does" from Wolfkin
Review:
Gorgeous woman + tight jeans and top = Lucius doing anything Cissa wants him too! ^_^

Love the fact that Lucius is learning that not everything muggle is worthless. Especially tight clothing on the woman you love. *homina!*
Comments from author:
It's more than physical for Lucius, but yes, she does know how to play him. Now that she realizes just what that attire does to him...

Review of chapter "Quidditch Memories III" from valdimarian
Review:
I can't remember with 100% certainty, but if memory serves during book 6 when Harry talks with Luna and eventually invites her to Slughorn's party she mentions something about rather going with Ron... OTOH That might be a fanon convention that picked up in one of my circle of authors

Edit: upon searching the evidence is in book 5, not 6. Granted, there's not much, but enough to support an alternate pairing (this is a pretty good LJ post with the supporting evidence http://ship-manifesto.livejournal.com/116111.html )
Comments from author:
Note from ES: Ah. I'll have to read that again. Hmmm... interesting.
