Yay, you're writing again! Also, it's awesome!

Seriously, I loved the Dresden Files, and I like how you've merged the different worlds. Goth Willow is well-written, if different - it's really interesting to see how much subtle, expert influence can really do.

Will you be involving more Dresden characters? Because that would be even cooler - and I quite like what there is already.

Update soon!

Ha! This story is great. I hope you keep it up. Your bold and snarky Willow might just be my favorite Willow ever, bar the original.

I continue to very much enjoy this story and look forward to further updates.
I can't wait to see how Lasciel "helps" our young Willow along next. Also looking forward to finding out who Willow will set her eyes on romantically.
Well done...
Comments from author:
I'm glad that you're enjoying the story. I got distracted with another plot bunny that was chewing on my ankles, followed by my paying job deciding to kick my ass all over creation this month which has left me with a horrible round of writer's block. So, while I have a chapter more or less ready to post, I'm holding off til I can get my head cleared. Thankfully, at worst case, the job stuff will be resolved within another couple of weeks when this project is finished and I get to go back to a more sedentary pace that is more conducive to writing instead of stressing.

"Okay, lemme break this down into simple math for you to make it easier on you. If Cordelia = Buffy (which is canon through the pilot; Buffy was the Cordelia of Hemery High and showed up with a similar mindset despite her new calling), and Willow = hates Cordelia, then why is Willow = hates Buffy hard for you to understand? You seem to be forgetting that the scenes you're referring to are literally their first encounter. She doesn't have years of friendship with Buffy or tons of knowledge on her. All she sees is a little blonde Cordelia clone who puts her foot in her mouth (probably engineered by Cordelia but we never know that for certain) and she acts accordingly. So what, it's amusing for her to do it to Cordelia in your mind but not an identical character? Isn't that a bit of a ridiculous double standard?

So wait. Willow shouldn't be mad that Buffy KNEW she was with a vampire and did nothing because she wanted to teach Willow a lesson, figuring she could save her later, then couldn't AND to top it off she couldn't save Jesse either? Really? O_o

Thanks for increasing my review count, though. You can reply to this one in another if you want. :)"

Well.. never let it be said i didnt do my part in increasing your reply count.

Here is what my problem with your "Willow hates buffy" scenario.
Willow have spent every year from kindergarten to high school being tormented by Cordelia, she had the grand total of 1(let me repeat that, 1!) encounter with buffy. And yet, she suddenly finds Buffy to be the new hate of her life, while she finds Cordelia attractive. Add to that, she insults Buffy every chance she gets, while she does absolutely nothing to get back at Cordelia, whom she ought to have a somewhat bigger reason to respond to??

And my point isnt that Willow shouldnt be mad, my point is that buffy shouldnt be willing to take the abuse without fighting back.
Look at those settings from Buffy's point of view. Willow is now a social outcast on the school, she refuses to be buffys friend, she is no authority(neither in terms of social life on the school, or school admin, or parental figure, go on yourself) buffy needs to deal with, in short, she is not someone buffy needs to be threatened by in any form or shape(as far as buffy knows).Nor is Buffy hired to be willows bodyguard. Still, she lets willow heap abuse on her for failing to rescue willow from her own stupidity. There is absolutely no reason for buffy to mutely accept that.
Comments from author:
Buffy immediately shows up and integrates herself willingly into the cluster of people Willow hates most. First impressions are very important. From Willow's perspective, Buffy's is very bad. It's augmented by the fact that she is irritated with the fact both of her friends are seemingly obsessed with talking about her but even without Xander and Jesse, the inverse of the classic saying is true as well: "the friend of my enemy is my enemy".

And again, she knows Buffy was watching her. She now knows that Buffy knew what the creature she was dancing with was. She knows Buffy took no action. She knows that Buffy did not save her and that Lasciel did. She knows that Buffy brought Xander into danger and that Buffy failed to save Jesse. Any of those would be grounds for unhappiness; combined, she's rightfully furious. As to why Buffy takes it? Have you ever pondered that... just a thought... Buffy isn't an immoral soulless psychopath who revels in the misfortune, injury, and death of others and she feels GUILTY for what's come to pass? That she allows Willow to get away with what she does because she feels she deserves it for - as Willow points out in well-articulated, intricate detail - failing in pretty much every way possible during her debut at slaying in Sunnydale, resulting in the death of one person and the near-death of the person confronting her? O_o

It's only a "Buffy bashing fic" if you conveniently ignore pretty much the entire pilot, including who Buffy was at the beginning of the series and who Willow was at that same point. Oh, and ignore basic pieces of Dresden canon and how Lasciel and Willow interact.

Your next fundamental mistake - after your selective amnesia when it comes to both Buffy and Dresden Files canon, that is - is that you have this bizarre notion that Lasciel "turns" Willow into anything. She relaxes Willow's inhibitions and gives her gentle nudges to express herself rather than bury her thoughts and emotions, but she doesn't override Willow's free will at any point. Fallen working in concert with a willing host are more powerful than Fallen with meat puppets, and so she puts great care into cultivating a relationship with Willow rather than imposing herself on her host. Willow finds the vampire girl aesthetically pleasing - and sexually attractive, but that's another matter entirely - and freely chooses to imitate her. Why? Apart from the obvious - she thinks it's a good look that would look good on her - it's also a look that's unique and interesting, at least compared to the uniformity of her classmates at Sunnydale High. Also, she was never a friend of the popular crowd and thanks to Lasciel's influence, rather than sitting behind their backs having the "We Hate Cordelia Club", Willow now finds herself confident enough to openly express her hatred for them. If you never realized Willow didn't like the people who picked on her, I have to wonder if you ever actually watched Seasons 1 through 3.

Finally, what would be a good comeback for Buffy to deliver, hmm? "Your complete and utter failure at your appointed task may have gotten my friend killed, almost got me killed, and you dragged Xander into danger because you were too stupid to lie to him when you were at the Bronze or even defuse my situation by lying to me because I was in danger." "Yeah, but, well, someone else saved you so no big deal, right? And I'm sure your friend is fine too despite the fact that I earlier said he's probably a goner?" What, in your mind, is the proper witty comeback when you're confronted with the truth of your complete and total ineptitude when said ineptitude nearly got the person confronting you KILLED the night previous?"

Oh.. this felt a bit too far out there not to post a little rebuttal..

Lets take Willow first.. She changes from a basically very decent person, who is friendly to everyone, (and yes, she did host the "we hate cordelia club"), but she also tried really hard to find something good in almost everyone she met, also after she got more selfassured and brave about herself in canon. But in your story, she turns into the bitch-goth from hell, who decides she hates Buffy on sight, and you claim that No... thats just willow expressing herself? Noone worked any outside influence on her? Get real. I dont think im the one with the selective amnesia here.

A good comeback from buffy might be something like " Maybe you should get off your high horse and stop trying to demand i should be a perfect person who does nothing wrong and be solely responsible for rescueing your stupid ass from a situation you got yourself into. You should accept responsibility for your own actions, like wandering off with a stranger in the middle of the night into a cementery, even if you didnt know it was a vampire, its a pretty stupid move."

Or maybe even a simple "I must have missed the memo that made me personally responsible for every single stupid teenager in this town"

But no.. Everything your faux-willow says is brilliant, and she knows best, and buffy have no comebacks to any of those comments.. That is pretty much the definition of a bashing fic to me.

Sorry I'm not reviewing this story as often as I should considering I get alerted every time it updates. I suppose that this story puts me on edge, and for very good reasons. Dresden had enough experiences in his life that he was able to hold Lash at bay, but Willow, particularly a Willow that has had no contact with the supernatural doesn't. I suppose that I'm worried that this story will show Willow corrupted with all of her bad traits manifesting much sooner than they did in the show, making me a tad reluctant to read.
Comments from author:
That's perfectly alright. I'll be honest. This fic is not something everyone is going to enjoy for exactly the reasons you just hit on and I do not begrudge your reluctance in the least. Take heart, however, because just as soon as my schedule loosens up (probably mid-december if things continue as they are), I'm going to start back into the Thunderverse, starting with some editing and continuing with some new material.

I did like the idea of this story, but im afraid this feels more and more like a buffy bashing fic, and little else.

I got 2 main problems with the premise here.. First, that Lasciel should turn Willow into a hate-the-world goth, that was never how she was portrayed in the dresden files, that sounds much more like imariel to me. Lasciel was named the seducer for a reason, and my understanding of it was that it was not just from how she behaved towards the host, it was also how she influenced the host to act towards others.

Secondly, while i might agree that Buffy might be taken a bit by surprise by the initial venomous assault from willow when they first, she was never shown as being tongue-tied when she and cordelia started fighting verbally, so why should she suddenly have no good comeback's when it comes to willow?
