Review of chapter "The Costume" from (Current Donor)dogbertcarroll
Review:
Meh. I understand what you are trying to do but the execution still falls to... Meh.

Explain to me how a God walking the streets of Sunnydale rather than a simple soldier would result in almost the same ending as canon. I also dislike Spike somehow inflicting the exact same injuries on Xander to make him a match for Blake. It all comes off as forced.

Notes: My pet peeve is lazy authors who make no real changes so they don't have to think up original plotlines. I don't see synchronicity as anything but a lame excuse for using canon events in place of original thought. Dru would have said something to Spike long before he set foot outside. So once more, meh.
Comments from author:
Sorry you feel that way.

I guess synchronicity would be the best explanation as why things ended almost the same as in canon. I implied that Xander as Thor ensured that Buffy was back home and safe--but that's where things took a slightly different turn where Thor immediately took afterwards and went on a Thunder God rampage throughout Sunnydale, cutting a swath through all of the chaos and everything.

Willow goes off to find Giles and Angel inadvertently frightens Buffy out of the house again when Dracula attacks and he's forced to "vamp" out in front of her.

Buffy is hunted down by Spike and they escape into the warehouse but Thor spots them and blows a hole through the roof and is about to slay Spike when Giles ends the spell--and returning Xander back to normal.

In retrospect, you might have a point in my inflicting a crippled leg on Xander same as Blake was a bit forced on my part. I decided to add that in at the very last minute because it seems like a bit of synchronicity to match Xander and Blake. But it's done and I decided that I might as well live with it.

Review:
wow xanders pretty lame... all the memories and all the power of thor and hes still the biggest twinkie eating idiot ever... wow

edit.... i see, i cant wait for him to figure it out... i mean i get it what i should have mentioned was i thought it was lame that he suddenly got scared of flying but i should also mentioned i do have a preference for somebody actually training to achieve max potential of said powers......i guess i just read it wrong cuz i thought when he became thor he suddenly became really big and even his face changed i believe so i thought that by getting his body and thus his muscle memory and on top of that all his actual memories and experience he became instant thor...
Comments from author:
I'm afraid I don't agree.

Xander does have the power but not all of the memories of Thor, nor does he have his experience. Thor had centuries to practice and refine his skills, this is Xander's first day using Thor's powers.

He'll get better, but he's got a way to go before he's Worthy.

Review of chapter "The Lightning" from BarbarossaRotbart
Review:
If Xander really has become Thor, shouldn't he speak differently and shouldn't he also use all his powers without error?
Comments from author:
Well, the way I had is that Thor "possessed" Xander on Halloween. He also examined Xander and judged him as being "worthy" and left behind his power.

I just thought that it would a bit boring if Xander instantly gained full mastery of Thor's powers and abilities without any sort of training or practice which is why I showed him realizing that although he does have Thor's power--he certainly doesn't have Thor's ability. In time however, with practice, he will begin to.

Xander is fully in control when he transforms so his speech patterns and the like will be his own. I was considering that as Xander becomes more and more experienced--like the longer and longer he remains as Thor, the more and more his personality and speech may alter.

Review of chapter "The Lightning" from IronBaron
Review:
It's rare that an author gives Xander a realistic learning curve. Most Halloween costumes seem to grant instant mastery. Xander's struggles here make sense since he has the powers of Thor but his memory and skills are Swiss cheese which would be realistic if he was expected to grow towards becoming worthy of the power rather than being granted an instant boost. The Aesir were warrior types who trained their way towards greatness so it would make sense that they would expect Xander to gain said skills himself. The lack of a teacher might be a hindrance (not that many people out there are skilled in the art of wielding and using a legendary hammer). But at least Xander is experiencing growth through his own mistakes and trials rather than being granted instant maturity either through Halloween brainwashing or the intrusion of foreign memories.

Nice job fleshing some of the things out. I really wonder how the Powers or the local Asgardians might regard their new Thunderer? Especially Loki. (And please let Loki be an actual Aesir/Jotun rather than the SG-1 Roswell Grey.)
