Review of chapter "Chapter 7: Revelations" from Gideon
Review:
Blasts from the past all around! I guess this is a story where Kirk does more than get by on his (her) good looks, pity. But smarts are necessary for a starfleet captain. Especially one that has rallied the remnants of a dozen civilizations. I hope Willow and Xander are happy to see their friend again!
Comments from author:
Of course. I was simply poking fun a bit on the stereotype of James "boldly coming" Kirk.

Okay, I'm now having trouble keeping all the couples straight...
Comments from author:
Ok, let's go.

* Jamie Kirk (FemKirk) is in a relationship with Janice Rand (TOS Yeoman Rand).

* Christopher Pike (the captain in the first TOS pilot, appeared once again in TOS) is in a relationship with the acting captain of the Discovery (NX-04, NX class, like the Enterprise from Star Trek: Enterprise), Commander Natalia Gridenko.

* Mara and Kang (from the TOS episode "Day of the Dove") are married.

* And Captain Castro and his first officer (Commander Ramirez) feel a mutual attraction but they haven't acted on it, yet. Complicating this are the feeling that Captain Casttro feels for teh Counselor.

Review:
Huh?
Comments from author:
Can you at least give me a clue of what you don't understand?
The situation in the little fleet? Jamie's and Janice relationship? Janice being a Slayer? Janice pregnancy?

Review:
So, I wonder if Willow activated slayers when they met the Enterprise, or there have always been slayers in this timeline? Rubbing a Ferengi's ears? They might as well get married after that, heh.
The little rebellion might well fizzle out--Jamie is back, and has a "I've found a way to save all your lives!" hole card. Meanwhile, Willow at least is on the Hecate, very nice. So, is a certain Firefly-class ship in the armada?
Comments from author:
A bit of column A and a bit of column B, actually. There were Slayers in this Universe (it's a paralell Universe, not an alternate timeline, and if that sounds like I'm splitting hairs, it's because I am :P), but the events of Season Seven happened differently and there was no need to activate all the Slayers. So in the end, the 2260s Slayer and all the Potentials were killed in the Event. When they found the Hecate, there were a few Slayers on board. And one of them died in a later skirmish along the way, and Janice was Called. It's all in the way that I envision how the spell works.
Well, Janice didn't know and you can bet that she (and Jamie) are not going to be happy after the find out that.
The rebellion is kaput, yes, but the person who instigated it is not done. And, regarding the Serenity..., I'm not decided.

So far, so good. One question, in the first paragraph --

"The prototype engine that she had been testing in Earth's orbit back in the early 21st Century had thrown her more than three and a half ahead in time. "

Is that supposed to be three and a half centuries?
Comments from author:
Yes. I modified that passsage so many times that last time I erased a word too much.

So, is Khan's ship in the group? Ouch.... Hm, 'powering' the Hecate. Maybe Dawn? Or the Scythe? Something weird along those lines. And Illyria is heading in to meet them. Can't wait to see who's on the Hecate.
I wonder what the Federation will do with all the refugees. Incorporate some into Starfleet? Give them a few worlds to settle on?
Comments from author:
No. Actually Jamie found Khan some time before all hells broke loose. Let's say that 'Space Seed' went a bit differently in Jamie's universe (and worse for a certain genetically augmented would-be conqueror).

Red: Hecate's power source: Yes, it's something weird along those lines.

Re: Illyria: the situation with her is a bit complex. Let's say that the events of Angel Season 5 didn't totally follow the script in this universe.

The refugees: each case will be treated individually. I have plans for some of them in other stories.

Review of chapter "Chapter 4: Old Friends" from Gideon
Review:
An interesting mix of old and new faces, I assume this will continue when we meet the crew of the Hecate. Can't wait to see who will be on it!
I did notice a couple of mixed up words but a beta reader should help catch that.
Comments from author:
Some people familiar to us, some people that I made up. And on the other side there is going to be some old faces from Trek.

Regarding the issue, unfortunately my old beta is busy, and the other that I have is for the KP story only (lot in her plate just now)

Nice to see they're moving to help, at least the preliminary steps towards it. And... someone affiliated with the Council hears "Hecate" and must notify it? Interesting.
Sounds like a really interesting bunch Jaime is leading, from all eras etc.
Comments from author:
Well, it's all part of the backstory. Cliff notes version: the Hecate development was funded by people of the Council.

There are a couple special guests between the other people, but (in case that somebody was thinking about it) Archer's Enterprise is NOT the pre-Federation Earth ship that was mentioned.

This was not the story I thought I was opening, but I did, and then I read it, and now I really think I have to go read the first one because I really really need to know what happened.
Comments from author:
If you are saying that for the references to past incidents (the "week that nobody remembers", Mirror Universe infiltrators, the characters backstories with each other) sorry, but most of them are stories that are unfinished. 'Trek to the Hellmouth' is only connected to 'To Boldly Go', by Toni Castro and some Buffyverse characters (that we have yet to meet in this story). Besides, from the point of view of Toni, Trek to the Hellmouth happens more than two years after To Boldly Go.

The Hecate sounds interesting :) and a whole universe destroyed because of some sexist klingons! Doh!
Comments from author:
Sorry, forgot to answer.

Well, I wanted a story with a female Kirk and everything flowed from there.

Intriguing plot twist. Nice use of past Federation history/episodes. "Hecate" so maybe some slayer-verse-earth survivors? Not Buffy but maybe Angel, Spike, Willow, Dawn? Or some such? That would be neat.
Comments from author:
Good guess. I'm not going to say who is in there, but you'll see them in a few chapters. Jamie has to meet somebody in the Corsair yet.
