How Oz Became Darth Maugrim

Review of chapter "The First Lesson" from misterwhy
An observation ....

The Fall of the Republic seems to echo in a very real way to the condition of the USA today.

Greater and better technological and medical advances all custom made for "our betterment"; yet with each step the way is paved for tighter government control.

Any opposition to this improved advancement is identified as unP.A.T.R.I.O.T.ic.

The great masses that represent the voting public are encouraged to follow their feelings; as guided by the ever present media with its talk-show hosts and opinion-leaders.

Sometimes one wonders if George Lucas has some ability to see the future and uses the Star Wars universe to tell us of a very close dark future.

Keep writing.

Review of chapter "The First Lesson" from Harry
Well, Oz WAS warned what the consequences of not listening to the Sith Lord would be. He couldn't do it the easy way. So now, its the hard way. Oz had to go Iron hand instead of Velvet Glove. Well, either way, Oz WILL become a Sith Apprentice!
Comments from author:
Your thoughts on "Imperial Inc." are most appreciated as well. I intend to detail Oz's breakdown and eventual turn to the Dark Side in the order specified in the previous chapter. Doubt. Guilt. Fear. We're already seeing some aspects of the "doubt" phase in Oz's reeducation. Harris will no doubt engineer the process to be sequential; he will instill doubts in Oz as to his ability to maintain his focus. Then he'll throw Oz's sense of guilt in his face in that he may make Oz feel guilty about not having been there to do something to save Willow, making him feel responsible for Willow's murder. Then he'll turn to fear -- Oz's fear at what he is slowly becoming. The process will take time. There will be gaps indicated in the story, and I hope to be able to summarize what happens in those gaps in future chapters. And then we get to the nitty gritty, to use the vernacular.

Interspersed throughout the story will be chapters that detail the progress Mortalis makes in his goal of eventual takeover of the United States government. There will be plans forming, and we know from "Fall of the Republic" what those plans are. But the major theme of the story is the fall of Oz and his rise to infamy as the terrible Sith Lord Darth Maugrim.

Stay tuned, true believers...

Review of chapter "Revelations" from Harry
Well, I see how Xander plans to break Oz: Carrot and Stick method. He does good, he gets rewarded with things like better food, living conditions and such. He does bad, PAIN! And its going to take a bit to break Oz. This Werewolf can handle pain to a extent.
Comments from author:
Physical torture is most deff not the way to go when it comes to turning Oz to the Dark Side. If you remember, it was Xander's mention of the fact that he was responsible for Willow's death, and that they both loved her at one point or another in their lives.

All Xander has to do is mention Willow and Oz becomes a raging madman, and then Xander will slowly pick him apart from there. The guilt, the shame, the regret, Xander will exploit it all and throw it back in Oz's face, and Oz will sooner or later lose the ability to maintain his Zenlike focus and calm, and then he will belong to Darth Mortalis....

Review of chapter "Memories" from ShalaDakiri
You know, the name 'Maugrim' is rather appropriate for Sith Oz. It was also the name of the head Wolf in the British and later American versions of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Comments from author:
Oh, cool...was wondering where "Maugrim" came from...thanks much

Review of chapter "Memories" from Harry
Well, some of Xander's work seems to be working, but not in the way he thought. Oz is getting his memories back, but he is not falling under the spell of the Dark Side yet.
Comments from author:
This isn't some wham bam thank you ma'am kind of thing, Xander, or rather Darth Mortalis, as Oz will come to know him soon enough, has got plans within plans for the werewolf, and trust me, they work slowly and patiently. Oz is gonna trip on his own sometimes-hairy hide soon enough, given time and patience. Then we will see what he becomes, but not immediately. Remember, it took years for Anakin Skywalker, from his first brush with the Dark Side at the loss of his mother, to finally become Darth Vader. Xander knows this, if you recall from "Jedi Harris"...
