Review of chapter "Informational Exchanges" from DieselDriver
Review:
I see now how appropriate your story title is. Both sides unwilling to tell the other the whole truth because of uncertainty of the other's reactions when doing so would clear up a whole big pile of mistrust. Catch 22 again. Can't talk because of the mistrust that talking would do away with. Very well written by the way.

Great story so far.

edit: BTW, there's a very simple way to get back to the present and see his friends again. He could use the same method that Commander Owens did in "The Final Countdown" by Martin Caiden. It's only 60 years. He'd have plenty of time to invest if he remembers the right things to invest in, microsoft, lucas films etc from the 80's on. Not sure about before, maybe by a bit of silver in anticipation of the Bucky Brothers attempt to corner the market. One of the guys I used to work for sold enough silver to pay cash for a house. he'd bought it at $1 to $2.50 an ounce and sold it for about $18. Even then it went up to about $42 an ounce before their attempt crashed. That was about 1983. Cash it in when it hits $40 and buy all the microsoft he could get. Leave a very nice present for his friends. The scene at the end of the movie version where Laskey realizes that the mysterious Mr. Tideman is actual Commander Owens was really cool. It was even better in the novel.

Review of chapter "Falling Down the Rabbit Hole" from DieselDriver
Review:
I remember when I read the Captain America comics. In the early 60's, when they resurrected him from being frozen. Remember him talking about a "Bucky" sidekick but that's about all I know if him. From the stories my dad has told me about being in England during the war (arrived there June 1943, ring a bell? Got my attention) the behavior of these "soldiers" is quite realistic. It was pretty SOP to get thoroughly soused when you had a chance. It helped deal with being scared Sh**less during the fighting. If you weren't scared then there was something wrong with you. Just like the catch 22 in Joseph Heller's book. Yossarian wanted out of the war so bad he tried to fake being crazy but it you were really crazy, you didn't want out and wouldn't apply for it. Anyone who hasn't read it should do so. The movie depicted the craziness described in the book quite well.

This just gets better and better. The wait was worth it since you gave us a pretty long chapter too. I have had the problem of knowing how a story starts and ends but the middle is the tough part. Good luck! And I really hope it ends with Steve and Xander meeting up in modern New York but I'm sure whatever you do will be great.

At least your muse is still talking to you, mine's all silent treatment. What did I do? I mean really, I can't fix it if I don't know what I did to piss her off.

Great chapter by the way, I like how people are noticing Xander and trying to get him to come out of his shell and thinking, "I want this guy on our team."
Comments from author:
*hug* Sorry to hear about your muse. It's terrible when they refuse to come to muse/author counseling to talk out the problem/issue they're having. *grins*

Thanks for the comment.

Great story so far.
Wouldn't it be easier to just use a small canteen? Lots of them on hand and if it's still too big, it should be pretty easy for Howard to cut one down and re-weld it. Hell, while it's open you could even coat the inside.
Comments from author:
I know it would have. But Xander's at this point thinking in modern terms of plastic packaging. Near the end I have Xander mention containers with a screw top. Canteens have screw tops. So eventually it's something like that that they went with. At least in my head.

Thank you.
