Review of chapter "Chapter Five" from RedCalypso
Review:
Egg-cellent! *snickers* I can't wait to see what Cordy's spirit beast turns out to be. Oh, and I think I know the origin of her magic, which could lead into another interesting crossover.

What about Amy, indeed?

Edit: LOL, that one just snuck by you. My main guess is Harry Potter, though you have also hinted at Mary Poppins. The reason I don't think Mary Poppins is simply because they know about her, which implies that she is fictional in their universe.
Comments from author:
I am off my game. You have no idea how long it took for the Egg-cellent thing to click. *rolls eyes* I am such a dork. @_@; Like when I first read the review it didn't even register. It took like hours and another read-through to make the connection. *Headdesk*

*grins* So what's your guess for the source of Cordy and Rhonda's magic?

And Amy. Amy is totally my beta's fault. She made a comment about wanting to see something and then boom. Amy became important. Which will be revealed in 'Tied up in Red', the next fic in the Our Roots Run Deep series.

Thank you for commenting.

Looks like Xander figured out how to get the Well to send them back, which is good news. And, as for Cordy's egg, lets see how that turns out. Sounds like the summer is turning out very interesting for Xander, Cordy and the pack.

Review:
You know... when I read "Gaius" at the beginning of the chapter, there was some frantic scrambling on my part while I tried to figure out if you'd added BBC's Merlin into this at some point. Then I remembered that BBC's Nimueh was sorta crazy and evil and your Nimueh wasn't and all was well again in my head. Still though... moment of shock.

It is just like the Scoobies to be "new and shiny" and therefor of interest to various demon hordes and semi-sentient magical objects though. Just their luck!

I'm glad you kept the Xander/Buffy-angst brief, though. I mean, I get that they're not okay yet, but this could have been way worse.
Comments from author:
LOL, that's just the way it worked out. The Gaasyendietha is a creature from Native American myth...and Nimue and Merlin's little pocket dimension is under the great lakes where the Gaasyendietha resides. Tor just calls it Gaius for short. ^^

Yeah I totally did not want an angsty drawn out scene with Xan and Buffy. Just...no.

Interesting magic power that Cordy and Rhonda share. I have a feeling that it's a clue to their ancestry, but in all honesty the only thing that comes to mind for me is Felix and his magic bag of tricks. *cough* I really don't think that's it...

Edit: LOL! Felix the Cat is an old old cartoon, which is why I was pretty sure that wasn't the answer, since this is not a cross with Roger Rabbit. I'm going have to go back and do a little re-reading now!
Comments from author:
It is a key to their ancestry, I alluded to another crossover during CotH when Botan has to find her way home when the portals are down. This clue here is pretty vague though so don't worry about it. I'll come right out and tell you in the next story...eventually. So keep an eye out for the next fic, Tied up in Red.

Also...who is Felix?

All things considered, he does deserve it. Besides, her hitting him is their equivalent to slapping him silly.

At least the pack got there in time to help out in the battle! Now that everyone is in the right time zone (Remind me to give Buffy what for, for hitting Xander) its time to figure out how to get those that need to, back to their own time period.

Review:
I'm really loving this new addition to the series. There is a point that bothers me, that you assume that Spike is taller than Xander. Nicholas Brendon is 5'11", James Marsters is only 5'9". All those scenes in Buffy where Xander looks only an inch or two taller than the girls were carefully staged (and frankly insulting to Xander's character, along with the whole "tear down the male character to make the girl characters look strong"). Which is another reason I love this series, all of the characters are equally strong.

Edit: Oh yeah, it bugged the heck out of me. Look at scenes with Buffy and Riley or Angel, where they make her look tiny next to the heroic male lead, and then consider the fact that Nicholas is only two inches or so shorter than them. Nice to know that your Xander still has some growing to do!
Comments from author:
Ah, but at this point Xander is only 17 and still has some growing to do. *winks* Don't worry he gets a bit taller and eventually will have to tilt his head down just a bit to meet Spike's eyes...and really? I never noticed the thing where it was staged to make Xander look only an inch or two taller than the girls. Probably because I'm such a Xander fangirl that my eyes hardly ever leave him when I watch the show. LOL

Review:
I am soooo glad that you won't make this Kagome/Inuyasha. Seriously. I mean, I have nothing against Inuyasha generally, really, I just don't like the pairing.

What Koenma said there at the end, that Xander owes... the universe, the fates, whomever, a human life... I don't know how I feel about that, in all honesty. Sounds ominous as all hell. Though I also feel a little sorry for Koenma - Xander probably generates paperwork by getting out of bed in the morning.

Sorry for the late review, I'm a little behind in my reading. Catching up, though! :v

Comments from author:
Yes. Yes indeed. It was meant to sound ominous. Muwahaha!

Ugh, ignore me. I haven't had coffee and I'm still on a FEEL trip from last night's episode of Teen Wolf. *flails*

But yeah, I imagine some days are like that, Xander rolls out of bed, The Fates start growling and stomping their feet...and then they send Koenma angry memos about that annoying Harris boy. Poor Koenma. He has no idea, Xander isn't going to be the only wild card in the group. Heh.

^^
