Review of chapter "No Need for a Holiday!" from DieselDriver
Review:
OMG!!! The thought of Buffy being Ryoko and Dawn being her spaceship is just amazingly funny. Very good combo there LOL. Also the thought of Buffy hanging on Xander like Ryoko does is also about the same level of hilariousness.

I have to wonder, will Dawn/Ryo-Oki be able to change forms during the event and what happens if she is in one of the changed forms when the spell ends?

Review:
I wonder, will Dawn-Ohki remain loyal to Ryoko/Buffy, or will she choose a new Captain? Do I even need to say that it will be Xander who she chooses. On a Slightly different subject, how will Joyce react to the changes her Little Girl?

TTFN
Comments from author:
Well, I don't see Dawn changing 'allegiances' from her sister to Xander... of course /all/ of the women in Tenchi are in love with Tenchi... =D Dawn claims 'dibs', but Willow definitely has a prior claim at this point... of course Dawn has a bit of a speech impediment thanks to Ethan's spell...

Miya!!!! *grrrrrr* ;)

Review:
Farscape is a good contemporary crossover for Buffy, especially with the similarity / total opposites of the Satedans (the Space Police in their sector) and the Tenchi world's Space Police.

Why not try Gundam Seed?

if you have a few PLANTS colonies transported in through the spell it will go a long way to giving
you a fleet and construction facilities and new tech.

add in a few enemies from various tv shows, anime series, games
and movies you've got a foundation for a world.

EDIT: In terms of reaction time.. yes, instinctive knowledge of the mobile suit...no idea. as for giant robots it depends on which ones you use, remember Mobile Suits and Gundams are very different like a hummer compared to a tank, same basic idea, radically different in design and firepower.
Robotech, Code Geass, Mass effect, Chromehounds, Mechwarrior i would say would fit with gundam well, something in the style of Gurren lagann or Power rangers would not. If it seems cartoony in proportions, it probably wont fit, just my opinion.
Comments from author:
Interesting idea... I worry about using the Gundam's and other Giant Robots though...

Would slayers be considered Coordinators?

Masterful recreation of Halloween night! I can't wait for the next update!
Comments from author:
Yeah, I definitely did not want to do 'the usual'.

First, Ethan's spell grants Janus power over the night... Therefore, if no-one is in the position to end the spell, with Ethan being affected and unavailable to provide the information on how to do so, it makes sense that the spell would last until dawn. Second, I like the idea of turning one of the Scoobies on the others due to the effects of the costume, it makes for interesting fall-out. What's really fun is that the only person who actually knows what is going on is the last person anyone would expect... and she's too busy sharing with her possessor to try to change anything. Finally, changing the costumes changes the entirety of what happens that night because no-one reacts the same :)

If you're familiar with Tenchi Muyo OVA/Ryo-Ohki then you will somewhat recognize the state that Halloween leaves everyone in, namely the static positions roughly relating to the first several episodes of the series, with a couple exceptions.

Impacted characters will also significantly change the flow of things after Halloween as well. For example, with Spike now being Z, it is highly unlikely that he would be hiring the 'Order of Teraka' to take on Buffy... On the other hand, things like Ford and Kendra coming to town might still occur but with a different manner of playing out.

Review:
This is interesting. I can't wait to see how everyone is affected by their costumes.
Comments from author:
Well, the rule of thumb is that they're going to maintain whatever powers their possessor's had as well as the memories of the characters up to the events portrayed, ie immediately prior to the Tenchi OVA/Ryo-Ohki series start as modified by the spell and its induced events.

Additionally, several interesting things have happened, including the merger of two vengeance demons and the disappearance of two key players. Plus Dawn's speech impediment and carrot craving.

I'm noodling chapter three now... starting off with a certain character who's presence might be unexpected... =D

Another great chapter. Keep up the good work.
Comments from author:
Thank you. Next up is a Buffyoko ghost, a fair bit of angst from an unlikely source... and a bit of screaming. ;)

I vote for the crossover to be mass effect or star wars but from the sstar wars the old republic game. another funny one tho not a technical space cross would be the justice league lol.
Comments from author:
*nods* I've addressed the 'gaming' crossovers previously... namely I'm not one, so my familiarity there is 'Oh, that's a game title...'

Justice League might be interesting, but it would be a dimensional cross (keyness) instead of an 'in universe' cross. To start of, my primary cross structure is going to be Men In Black, which should allow me to bring in lots of fun crosses within that universe thanks to some things about the movies... (Like Lucas and Spielberg being on the 'monitored aliens wall') ;)

Review:
Buffy and Willow are missing, will probably be very cranky when let out. If Xander gives Buffy the gems in Tenchi-ken, we will have another candidate for light-hawk wings.

Can't wait for crazy, totally expect K and J to take a road trip to pester them about secrecy rules.
Comments from author:
Not sure about cranky... :) Haven't decided yet.

Yeah, we have a spaceship falling out of the sky over Sunnydale... Methinks K and J might notice.

Review of chapter "No Need for a Holy Man!" from Martin
Review:
Introducing that many people in a short chapter was a mistake, because it just became a confusing mess. And I have watched some of the Tenchi animes.
Comments from author:
Sorry you feel that way Martin.

On the other hand, it was Halloween night and chaos ruled. If I didn't make you feel like things were total chaos, then I failed as an writer. I'm sorry if you were expecting me to say 'and chaos happened' and be satisfied that it would be 'sufficient' for my story plans.

Review of chapter "No Need for a Holy Man!" from DragonBard
Review:
Really confusing, and I'm fan of Tenchi Muyo!

First, taking all three gems doesn't age Ryoko, it just makes her weaker. The aging we saw when Tenchi freed her was because Ryoko was building up power to break out of her prison. Once she had access to the outside, she gathered enough energy to restore her normal appearance.

Second, by the time she was 708, Sasami was already assimilated with Tsunami.

Why are you setting everything pre-OVA 1?

Heck, most of this seems set prior to Yosho leaving Jurai, except for Sasami's age being 700+.
Comments from author:
Thank you. I'm glad I succeeded in the confusion. After-all, that was my intent being Halloween night and all.

The rest of it is artistic license. To share a quote running around the forums, 'Once you put pen to paper about any character, EVERYTHING is AU'. The author is God to their story. I personally see no point in 'assuming' that the characters come with complete backstories, otherwise, what is the point of writing them?

The characters are set to where they need to be for the rest of the story to follow. Nowhere else.

Very nice start, hope to read more soon.
Comments from author:
Thank you. I can't say exactly how soon though. Unlike a certain other writer on this site (who I LOVE to read stories from) I don't write 70+ chapters ahead... ;) (If you haven't read Diane Castle's 'Secret Return of Alex Mack' do so!!! It's Awesome!)

Review:
Nice new chapter. I do hope you have a little reference guide maybe next chapter of who was dressed as whom. It's hard to keep track with some of these halloween fics involving a lot of different costumes. The night apparently didn't end well for some of them, I'll have to be reminded to see who.
Comments from author:
already in work... See immediately preceding review for the quick list.

Yeah, at least one character has sacrificed herself to save another and a few are at least temporarily out of action giving the following chapters a couple of arcs to follow...
