Review of chapter "Passing Away" from EarlGrey
Review:
Good, touching, short story.

"Karate kid" movies, just like "Buffy" were classic coming of age stories I grew up with. And you managed nicely to put them together.

R.I.P Pat Morita

This can be boiled down to one sentence. Julie became a Slayer.

Review:
That was so completely awesome.

The Karate Kid movies got me through my childhood. Helped me not be afraid of bullies.

This is very well-handled.

Pat Morita will be missed forever.

Just wanted to tell you this was a nice and fitting crossover tribute to Pat "Mr. Miyagi" Morita. I read it back when you first posted it, but for whatever reason didn't review. Nice blending of the two worlds and you managed to capture the emotion without lots of back story. I applaud you.

Review of chapter "Passing Away" from vitruvian
Review:
Very nice.

Of course, if Julie from Next Karate Kid got Chosen, I could easily see it happening to Maggie Fitzgerald from Million Dollar Baby as well. Maybe in the middle of that last fight - she could be dealing with guilt over demolishing her opponent rather than injuries to herself. A Slayer trained as a boxer rather than a kickboxer would have an interestingly different fighting style.

I'm not sure how I missed this one, but it appears that I did.

Very nice. I like the way that you included Daniel and the Military. Having Miyagi working for the slayers in the end was a stroke of genius.

Bravo. Like you, the Karate Kid films were part of my youth that I still cherish. I even have fond memories of Mr. Morita from Happy Days. This tribute honors him. Thank you.

Review:
Very very cool. I can actually see this crossover happening. I like the way you brought in Daniel from the first three movies as well. I definately agree with the fact that everyone who was born in the 80's grew up knowing who Pat Morita was and his legacy to us in the Karate Kid Films. I would like to see more though. You could defiantely expand on this plot and make a full blown story about how Julie became a slayer and what Miagi's reaction was when they were told by Amy and their first meeting with the Scoobs. Now that would be interesting.
Comments from author:
Thanks. I loved first Karate Kid movie and enjoyed its sequels (if not as much). I still a little annoyed about one thing. I spent an entire summer volunteering to wash and wax my mom and dad¡¦s cars and I never became a bad assed karate masterƒº. False advertising.

As for expanding the story. All I really wanted to do was a simple little memorial. Maybe someday I¡¦ll revisit this story and fill in the blanks. But I¡¦ve already got too many ongoing long fics so it will be a while before anything like that happens.

It¡¦s possible I may incorporate this into my ¡¥A Changed World¡¦ universe. But I haven¡¦t decided yet.

I loved Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi (and as Arnold in Happy Days!). With his passing (and Richard Pryor's too) it seems like little bits of my youth are disappearing. Anyway, thanks for this. It's a thoughtful tribute.

I really love how you have chosen to honor the actor that played Mr. Miyagi (sp). I was truely saddened to hear of his passing.
