The flashback adds an interesting twist. It kind of opens the door for more chapters with Angel, and hopefully Spike, as well.

I'm surprised that W & H didn't tell Mathilda that bullets wouldn't kill Angel. No biggie, it was still a great chapter! Please update soon!
Comments from author:
Thanks so much for the review!

I didn't have W&H tell Mathilda about the bullets because I wanted her in the dark about what Angel was and what else was out there for as long as possible. Telling someone that bullets won't kill a person generally leads to a lot of questions. ;)

*has no idea what the heck cowbell has to do with anything*

I have missed that reference somewhere along the way. Would you mind explaining?

Thanks.

EDIT: Thanks for the link. I'm still failing to see how to relate the cowbell video to anything pertaining to my story, but thanks for the review nonetheless.

Well written and intriguing premise. Particularly like the perfectly logical idea that Mathilda worked for WRH before slayerhood. Looking forward to more.

Oh, I like this story. I so look forward to more of Matilda's and the Fang Gang's interactions. I think Matilda would make an uber-Slayer that might even make Faith take a moment and back down. Lol!
Comments from author:
Thanks! I'm very excited about placing Mathilda in the Team AI verse. It just means I'll have to come up with new adventures for them rather than rehashing old episodes with Mathilda inserted.

And yes, Mathilda is going to make one fine Slayer, isn't she? :)

Cool concept. Before reading this story, I would have never thought of this crossover. I'm glad I found it. "The Professional" was always one of my favorite movies.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review. I think I might have had the first "Professional" crossover on the site. "In Between Black and White" was the first Professional/BtVS crossover I wrote - if you are interested in reading that one too.

I plan to continue this story though. I just need to get through August's Fic-a-Day challenge. Thanks again!!

Review:
Good to see another Professional x-over - I had only come across one other story here on TTH. It's almost funny to see that Buffy is afraid of Matilda, not because Matilda is stronger, but because she probably realizes that she is MUCH more ruthless and open to the use of modern weapons than Buffy is. Buffy and Matilda are probably closely matched in hand-to-hand, but Buffy can't do much about a car bomb or a sniper rifle at 800 yrds (as a Slayer, Matilda is probably one Hell of a shot). Looking forward to more.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review. Yes, I don't believe that Buffy is afraid of Mathilda killing her persay, but she is very afraid of what she (Buffy) released onto the world in calling her. The girl was trained by a professional hitman and she's been continuing Leon's trade for years (in my verse) and that bothers Buffy. But Buffy'll have to live with the consequences.

Intriguing concept, please continue. Good BtVS / The Professional crossovers are rare; I would like to see where you take this.

Thanks for the review. There will be more to come...it will probably just take a little while (at least until the end of August).

Review:
Interesting take on this idea. And nicely written.

But would Matilda really have been THAT good? Yes, I know we never see her grown up... but the kind of hitman/assassin that Leon was and she wanted to be was of the classic mobster style... quick and brutal - not a whole lot of hand to hand combat involved.

Also, I can see her being ruthless but not evil in any way (Leon seemed to have a very strict moral code, even if it allowed for killing people.) that would lead her to even briefly working for Wolfram and Hart.

One last thought :-)... I notice you give Buffy a tinge of that "Holier than Thou" "We don't kill Humans" attitude towards Matilda that she exhibited in the show towards Faith. You might want to develop that more. As much as I'm a fan of Buffy (the character) - that attitude always seemed a bit odd to me given her profession. Evil coms in many forms...
Comments from author:
Thank you very much for the review. I love reviews that make me think and question my work, so thanks.

On to your comments:
Leon taught her to kill the mob way, as you mentioned, but Leon's dead, and my Mathilda is a curious girl - always looking for new knowledge. She has grown a long way since she was 12, which will be covered in later chapters. Additionally, she has been with Angel for years (since shortly after Faith's attempt on Angel's life (season one) through the end of season five - when Faith brings her in).

I think I might not have shown her jobs with W&H in the correct light. You are very right, evil does not sit well with her. One can be hired to do hits without being evil, right? No women, no children, etc. Angel was well within Leon's moral hit list, so he'd fit Mathilda's as well.

I love Buffy, don't get me wrong. I thought she was a great character - sure there were some ups and downs but she wouldn't have been so great without them. But she was very strict with Faith and even with Anya about the 'no killing humans' thing. I look at it as Buffy would have a hard time dealing with the fact that in order to save the world she gave a killer the power of the Slayer. I think that would weigh pretty heavily on her. And I definitely do intend to further flush that out. Especially the difference between Mathilda choosing her fate (as a killer) early on in life and Faith's accidental killing that led to her change of sides.

Thanks again for the review - it was great to put some more thought into these characters!
