Lessons in Counseling
Howdy all. I know I haven't been the greatest when it comes to story follow-through. La Casa and Independent Consultant are still in the works, I just have a major case of writer's block.
This is just a little something that started plinking away at the back of my brain recently. In the IMDB trivia section for BtVS, it mentions that Sarah Michelle Gellar and Nick Brendan went to the execs with a storyline wherein Buffy and Xander get together romantically during season 7. However, it was nixed and they went with the Spike thing, alas.
Tales like this are a dime a dozen, but I'm still going to inflict it on you. This is going to be done in snippets from the episodes, without actually using the existing scenes. More like things that could've gone on when the cameras weren't looking.
And now, the obligatory disclaimer haiku.

After her surprising job offer from Principal Wood, Buffy was less jumpy about Dawn going to school on the Hellmouth. She couldn't exactly say she was happy about it, but she could face it with a bit less trepidation.
As she ambled outside, Buffy spotted Xander directing his construction minions to go repair the hole in the bathroom floor.
"Look at Foreman Harris, all in-charge and assertive," she greeted with a tease, once he was alone again.
"Sorry Buffy, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am." Xander brushed his nails on his tie and feigned haughty study of a random set of blueprints. Which resulted in him rubbing his arm after it received a semi-amused swat from Buffy.
"Well, you'll be happy to know that you're not the only one who drummed up some business today." Buffy informed him, tucking her hand in the crook of his arm as they began to walk for the car.
"You mean besides Hellmouth High being back in session? I didn't think you got paid for that."
Buffy shook her head. "Not Slaying, you goof. I just got offered a job as a school councilor!"
Xander's eyebrow arched in mild surprise. "How's that work? Don't councilors usually have, y'know, a counseling degree?"
"The details are still the kind where they're not very detailed. Still, something where it's actual money coming in, rather than the opposite." Buffy shrugged carelessly. It was a chance to keep an eye on the place, (and Dawn), so she wasn't going to look a gift job in the paycheck.
"And," she added, peering up at him, "I don't have to keep mooching off of you if an emergency hits."
"Hey, it was nice feeling like the man of a house. Rather than the man under the house." Xander shrugged modestly.
Buffy swatted him on the bicep again, this time much more gently. "You know what I meant."
Xander nodded agreeably as they reached the car. "Well, for what its worth, I hope you get the job. There's no bad in having the Slayer camped out on the Hellmouth. Or in having the Buffster taking care of the kids here. They'll be better off with you, than without."
Buffy's grateful hug on his arm was his only reply.
"Besides, maybe I can get you to sneak in and approve more construction proposals."
