“I feel so grounded.” Aya said, wincing as the big reptilian like demon butchered a classic. “This is really good punishment.”

Don rolled his eyes and clapped loudly when the demon was practically shoved off the stage by the Host. Then Angel was introduced and the twins plugged their ears as the song started.

“Be nice.” Don warned.

“We are.” Xander said. “If we don’t hear it, we can’t make fun of him later.”

“We’ll make fun of each other enough when we sing.” Aya said brightly.

“Says he who isn’t tone deaf.” Xander muttered as Aya laughed at him.

“Ok you two,” Don said in exasperation. “If you keep this up, I’m picking your songs.”

Aya and Xander exchanged looks. “He’ll pick girl songs.” Xander said.

“Or show tunes.” Aya said in horror.

“Tv commercials?” Xander suggested.

“Don’t mean you theme songs?” Aya asked.

“No TV theme songs are cool.” Xander said.

“Even the one from Star Trek?” Aya countered.

Xander tilted his head. “It doesn’t count. The words were never officially in the credits, so not everyone knows there are words.”

“I dare you to sing it.” Aya said with a smile.

“They really are teenagers.” The Host said, standing behind the twins. “Well my little cupcakes, what are you going to sing?”

“Can we hum?” Xander asked pleadingly. “Or whistle?”

Aya tugged on the green demons sleeve, then whispered into his ear when the man leaned down. Slowly a smile spread over the Host’s face. “Certainly.” he said to the request, then walked away.

“What did you do?” Don asked suspiciously. He always had to be suspicious of the things his children did, or he’d be paying thousands of dollars a week in damages.

“Who me?” Aya asked innocently.

Don shook his head. “I should have let John put you two in military school.” he muttered.

“You do know John suggested that so we’d destroy the school, right?” Xander asked as a slow smirk crept up his face.

“Yeah and now I wouldn’t have to deal with you two doing things that give me grey hairs.” Don said, rubbing a hand over his hair.

“Why not?” Aya asked confused. “We have to exert power or we get sick, you know that.”

“Yeah, I know. I still don’t like seeing my boys get into trouble.” Don said, wrapping one arm around his littlest child and kissed his forehead. “Or danger. And if I could have kept John out of the military, I would have.”

“But the military made him such a good cop.” Xander pointed out. “Just like you.”

“He respects and looks up to you more than you think, daddy.” Aya said, snuggling next to his father like he did with everyone.

“In some ways I’m glad,” Don said, “But in others I wish he would have followed in Charlie’s footsteps, if only because it’s safer.”

“We live on the Hellmouth, how is that safer?” Xander asked, rolling his eyes.

“Because I taught my children to defend themselves, but going to war is still different than facing a vampire.” Don explained. “It’s a parent thing. You might understand someday.”

“Graham suggested that we wait till after college to have children,” Aya said, snickering at the expression on his father’s face. “Unless you want to be a grandpa now.”

Don rubbed a hand over his face so Aya wouldn’t see his displeasure. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Graham; he just didn’t like the fact that Aya was only eighteen and the CIA agent was his first boyfriend. Well and the whole CIA thing since the blond was supposed to be Aya’s bodyguard. He was glad Graham wanted to wait for them to get out of college before making any lifelong commitments, it showed that the agent was aware that Aya was young and not even story book romances last forever without something else to back them.

They fought enough to prove that.

“And now ladies and gents, we have two very special guests tonight.” the Host announced from the stage. “Many of you know of them, some of you want to be them. Straight from the Hellmouth, I give you the Sacred Twins!”

“Show off.” Xander muttered as the spot light hit them and Aya got up, dragging his twin to the stage with him. Whoever was in charge of the stage had set up two stools and mikes with one lower than the other. Resting on a stand was an acoustic guitar that was obviously well used and loved. Xander gave Aya a sharp look, then nodded with a sigh. Aya would sing, he would play, and together the Host would work something out about their future. It was actually a good idea since Xander couldn’t sing to save his life and Aya never liked instruments he had to strum. They had a wide education in everything from combat to dancing, they knew several current and ancient languages, and could play various instruments dependent on their individual tastes. Some of it was because Don wanted his sons to have the best of everything, but most of it was because the twins got bored very easily.

Sitting down on the stage Xander picked up the guitar and gave it an experimental strum to make sure it was in tune before he raised an eyebrow at Aya and began to play.

Aya smiled then waited for the right moment to take a breath.

“You, still a whisper on my lips.
A feeling on my finger tips
It’s pulling at my skin

And you
Leave me when I’m at my worse
Feelin’ as if I’ve been cursed
Bitter cold within

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn’t live my life without you
Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn’t live my life without you
Without you

You, still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my finger tips
Pulling at my skin

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn’t live my life without you
Days go by and still I think of you
Yeah
Days when I couldn’t live my life without you.
You.”

There was silence as the song ended and then almost as one the audience began cheering enthusiastically. The twins stood and bowed, then hurried off the stage to where the Host was waiting.

“Well, my kittens.” Lorne, the Host, said slightly troubled, but ginning all the same. “You can come in and sing any time you like, just make sure I’m not in the room when you do. Wow, what a destiny you two have.”

“Is it bad?” Aya asked, casting his brother a concerned look.

“Let’s step into my office.” Lorne said, nodding as a young human walked on stage and picked up the guitar, from the way he caressed it, the instrument had to be his. “This one just comes to play so I don’t have to listen.”

The twins followed Lorne into the back as the man started singing, making the Host pause. “Well, maybe I should talk to all of you.” he said, but ushered the twins into his office and shut the door. “Now then my babykins. You two have very interesting futures.”

“So you got both of us?” Xander asked. “I don’t have to sing?”

“No.” Lorne said, smiling at the teen. “Your important futures are linked. What I can tell you is, more than ever you will need your family and friends. Those you love will be in danger and some will unwittingly be a danger. For one, she needs help now or she will end the world, for another, you just need to keep a close eye on him and when he starts to change, you will know and help him before it’s too late. Trust yourselves and be willing to help and be helped. And remember, you might have a great deal of power, but sometimes that isn’t enough. There are also some changes that you are unaware of, if you ever find out about them, know that it was for the best and not intended to harm.”

The twins exchanged looks. “Ok.” Aya said slowly. “I think I can figure out most of that and I’m guessing the rest will show itself when we need to know.”

“Exactly.” Lorne said, then turned to Xander. “Don’t discredit your visions. They are more important than you think.”

“Oh.” Xander said sheepishly. “Sorry, I’m still getting used to some things.”

“Understandable.” Lorne said and opened the door to his office and beckoned someone inside. The young brunette man entered the office frowning slightly.

“What is it?” the man asked.

“Lindsey McDonald, meet Ayan and Alexander Epps. I believe your firm occasionally has problems with their father.” Lorne said, smiling cheerfully.

“Your father is Don Epps?” Lindsey asked, confused.

“Yup.” Xander said. “Even I remembered that…after twenty minutes.”

Aya snorted. “Hello Lindsey.” he greeted.

“They are going to get you what you desire most in the world.” Lorne said, his cheerfulness starting to become creepy.

“How can they do that?” Lindsey asked, almost holding his breath for the answer.

Lorne just smiled wider.

“Holland Manners?”

The lawyer looked up from his desk at the little redhead stand in front of him holding a file almost coyly. “Who are you?” he demanded “How did you get in here?”

“My name is Aya, and I got in here because not even you can keep a god out of this building.” the little redhead said smiling coldly. “The Senior Partners said I have to give this to you. Its more dramatic that way.”

Surprised, Holland took the file and glanced at it. “What is this?”

“This is an employment termination notice.” Aya said, his smile never leaving his face. “We the Sacred Twins have hired Lindsey McDonald under retainer as our lawyer, effective immediately. Therefore he no longer works for Wolfram and Hart.”

“Our contracts are legally binding for life.” Holland said, secretly smiling that the firm could now have such powerful being on their client list.

“Unless all of the Senior Partners allow them out of their contract.” Aya said, as the temperature in the room lowered significantly. “And they did.”

“Surely the protection that Wolfram and Hart can provide would be invaluable to someone such as yourself.” Holland, said trying to negotiate before he lost Lindsey; he had such plans for the boy. “Or perhaps a more experienced lawyer.”

“This is not a negotiation. This is a notice.” Aya said. “The Senior Partners were more than willing to give us what we wanted in exchange for their lives. And I assure you, any repercussions on your part will be met with the utmost hostility. That includes trying to get Lindsey back.” He waved his fingers. “Bye now.” Then he vanished.

Holland Manners blinked at the air for several moments before he looked down at the file with a frown. It was true; the last page was a termination of employment contract that was signed by all of the Senior Partners. There was no getting Lindsey back now; there would be no using the man’s light side to get what he wanted. He couldn’t put out a hit on the man or kidnap him for later use. There was even a part in the paper work that said he couldn’t even do anything to the Sacred Twins or their family. Obviously Lindsey had drawn up the papers and had thought of everything, like he always did.

Picking up his phone Holland waited for his secretary to pick up the line. “Have the cleaners search McDonald's office for anything of importance, then clear it out.” He paused, then sighed. “Fine.”

They had even cleaned everything out Lindsey’s office already.

Even the desk.

Frowning, Holland went through his Rolodex, then picked up the phone again to dial a number. If he couldn’t sacrifice Lindsey, he would just have to find someone else.

a/n: so that was short, as it was meant to be. I had to write something for Andy and get Lindsey out of LA before he was lost to Wolfram and Hart and then lost his hand. I always thought Angel could have done more for the poor lawyer but that’s just me. Plus I kinda have been reading Scribble’s Jedi Harris (again) and couldn’t help but want to make Lindsey a good guy.

Plus the actor is hot.

Anyway. If anyone noticed, I changed the story, I added this one as a prologue so next chapter will be the start of the next story. It took me a long time to prepare to post this next chapter, I kinda had a few ideas that fell through so I had to rethink things. Plus I just started a new school and you know how that is.

And lots of thanks and love to those that reviewed and stuck with me through this whole thing, you guys are the reason I write.

next up: chapter one: introductions.
