him. She intends to change that.

Spoilers: post BtVS S7, through S1 Ep. 2 ‘Night of the Comet’ for Diaries

Disclaimer: I own nothing. All the vampire-y goodness belongs to L.J. Smith and the creators of the show. Lyrics are from Finger 11’s song Paralyzer, which I also do not own.

Author’s Note: Prequel to my fic ‘Drowning Pool’. I’m in a Vampire Diaries frame of mind. When I wrote Drowning Pool I intended for it to be a stand alone, but Dawn and my muse refused to be silenced. The song lyrics inspired me as I was listening to my playlist on MySpace.

Well I’m not paralyzed but I seem to be struck by you
I wanna make you move because you’re standing still

She moved to Mystic Falls when Buffy announced that she wanted to travel the world and her sister deserved the chance to follow her dreams for once. So she called Willow and asked if she could move in with her. That was three weeks ago and she has yet to see anything of the town other than the new version of the Magick Shop that Willow opened and the grocery store. Oh, and him. She sees him everyday.

The first time he walked by the store she got just a glimpse of him. Dark, spiked hair and pale skin encased in nearly all black clothing. She tried to write him off as just another passerby even as her gaze followed him all the way across the front of the store until he was out of sight. He walks by the same way the next day, and the next, everyday for three weeks and each time she notices something fascinating about him that holds her attention until the next day when something else catces her eye. What strikes her most is that even though he is walking down the street it’s almost as if he’s standing still. Something has taken the life from his soul.

He always looks sad and often high even though school’s been in session for two weeks. She’s not going yet, but she’s surprised that he gets high at school. The stoned look is present more often than not and though she is new in town she manages to learn who he is and about the sadness that seems to weigh his whole body down. She understands loss better than most and decides then and there that she’s going to stop mooning from a distance. It’s past time to make a move and she plans her attack for the night before her first day of school.

She picks her outfit carefully, leaves her hair long and straight but curled under at the ends, and applies just a little makeup, eye shadow, mascara, and lip-gloss. The black vest molds tight to her skin, covering her breasts, clasping around her neck and is tied at the base of her back, leaving her entire back bare. The mini skirt and black motorcycle boots compliment the vest and leave little to the imagination. She wants him to want her. Known among the Scoobies for her relentless, tenacious nature, she’s never used it on anyone outside her sister’s circle of friends, but there’s a first time for everything. Mystic Falls has no idea what the new girl next door is capable of, but they’re about to find out. She wants Jeremy Gilbert and he has no clue that Hurricane Dawn is about to bowl him over.
