Disclaimer: I do not own anything of Buffy or SG-1..I'm just borrowing some characters.
A/N: It's been a while since I've been on here and/or updated my other story, for which I'm sorry. I just had some things to take care of. But now I'm back and am going to be trying to update at least ever few days, hopefully. From the reviews of my other story, a lot of you liked the first version. Personally, I did too but one of the main points of writing fan fiction is writing to your reader's approval, I guess you could say. But seeing as how there are some of you who liked the darker version, I'll be writing to that theme, though it will be slightly different from the first version. Anyway, I'm rambling and I know you're not here to read my ramblings, let's get onto the story!
Buffy Summers slammed the door to her room forcefully, anger boiling through her veins as the words of her 'friends' echoed in her head. She couldn't believe that they thought they had the right to tell her what to do, to order her around like some kind of lesser being. Oh, she would show them what happens when you piss the longest living Slayer off. But not now, she was hurting too much to do much of anything. Of all the people she expected to turn on her so completely, Dawn was not one of them. Her own sister chose to side with Willow, Xander and Giles over herself, and it hurt worse than when she had been kicked out of her own home.
Laying on her bed, Buffy let her tears fall unchecked down her cheeks, desperately wishing a certain blonde, blue-eyed Wiccan was there with her. 'Tara always made things easier to deal with, she never should have died. If it wasn't for Willow, Tara would have never been in the room when Warren started shooting.
Several long minutes passed as Buffy's tears slowed until they finally stopped and the blonde Slayer sat up, feeling a new resolve settle over her. 'Maybe I can call Riley, he might know a place I can go to get away from everything.
' With that thought, Buffy stood and walked over to her dresser, grabbing her cell phone and dialing the number from memory.
" Riley's voice came over the other end.
"Riley, hey, it's Buffy." Buffy said softly, hearing her ex-boyfriend's sharp inhale. "Your offer, the one with the problem in the place you can't tell me, is it still open?"
" Riley confirmed, confusion lacing his words. "Buffy, what's wrong? What happened to make you suddenly ask about my offer?
"I just-I need to get away," Buffy said, choking up slightly. "I can't be around them anymore, all they do is take and take and I don't have anymore to give. I'm at the end of my rope, Riley, and I'm seriously thinking of making a noose out of it. If I stay here...I need to leave, Riley, I need to get away from them." Taking a deep breath to force her tears away Buffy asked, "Is your offer still open?"
"I can have you on a plane at midnight to Colorado,
" Riley answered softly. "Since you are accepting the job, I can tell you a little about what you'll be doing. Tell me, Buffy, do you believe in aliens?
The conversation that followed shocked Buffy to her core, and being a Slayer she's not easily shocked. Aliens were real and a program here on Earth was dedicated to fighting them, at least the ones that want to take over Earth. There were some peaceful alien races like the Tok'ra, Nox, Tollan, Asgard and many others. The race that Earth is fighting is the Goa’uld, a parasitic race that believe themselves to be Gods. Buffy would be moving to Colorado but would only be staying there briefly as an Asgard ship would be waiting there for her and would transport her to another planet. Buffy's job would be to learn from the Jaffa that lived on the planet, learn their language, fighting style, customs, etc. She would in effect become a female Jaffa warrior, fighting along side the male Jaffa warriors to defend the planet against the Goa'uld and System Lords.
I know it's a short chapter and totally different from the first version but I think I like this one better than the other one. I hope you enjoyed it and if you didn't, review and let me know what you didn't like. I'll take into consideration your words and if I see the merit, I'll change it. R&R please..it boosts my ego and makes it easier to write.
