Brian was shocked when he opened his eyes and found three blondes sitting at his bedside. Well not that surprised he knew that two would be there no matter what. Lindsay and Justin were his rock but the other blonde. She was someone he knew he needed, someone who was there for him the last time something like this happened.
“Buffy?” Brian whispered finding that his throat was a lot sorer than expected.
“Hey there you, we were worried, how do you feel?”
“I’m fine.” Brian stated more like himself sitting up in bed.
“What the hell happened? That asshole was here, Julian and he was…I mean he was…oh god!”
“Everything is okay Brian. You don’t have to think about that ever again.” Justin stated coming to Brian’s aid. He was shocked when Brian buried his face in his shoulder. It was nice yet unbalancing.
Brian didn’t really want to show this moment of weakness, really he didn’t. But what was happening to him was scary. Someone was violating him over and over again and what was worst were they were making him like it. They were taking him back to the days of his father. The days that at first he would avoid the abuse but then after awhile he would do something intentionally just to make his father beat him and get it all over with. They would pay, God when he got out of there he would make him pay.
“BRIAN!” they all shouted in unison.
“Sorry, I guess I sort of slipped off somewhere.”
“It’s understandable, we’re just glad that you’re okay. Buffy explained to us what you do Brian. I mean, wow, I’ve been drawing you as a hero for years now in the comics I never realized that you would really be one. You’ve done a lot for the people here. She and her team are here and they are going to get to the bottom of this."
“Team? What are you some kind of cop, cause the cops can’t help us right now. Your bullets is no match for what he is.” Brian stated sarcastically.
“I’m the slayer.” was her one word reply.
Emmett had to get out of there. The things that these “Scoobies” were saying had to be ridiculous. I mean Vampires, and witches, and warlocks and trolls and going to hell. What the hell man? Then there was Tara. What the hell was that? She wasn’t real. He could see it, she wasn’t. She was dead, he knew it. He could feel it deep down inside.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” Tara whispered to Emmett causing him to jump.
“I was just leaving, I mean Brian seems to be doing better now so yea I think I’ll just be going back home or to work or to somewhere.” Emmett stated nervously.
“I know what I you are.” she simply stated.
“Really? I thought I was hiding it well, I need to work on my butch.”
Tara couldn’t suppress the laugh after he said that.
“Well not that silly, I saw you at the club the other night so I know that you are one of “us”, but I know that you can see me. It might not be much, and it might not be constant but I know you can see my true face. I can hide it with a glamour to the average eye, but people like you, people with your gift they can see.”
“So what am I?”
“You’re a See-er you can see them, you know that I’m not real well not exactly.”
“You’re not. I can see sometimes your face. I mean your beautiful don’t get me wrong but sometimes there’s a flash and then your scar. It’s more than that isn’t there?”
“Much more. Do you really have to get to work?”
“Not really why?”
“I thought maybe you and I could go and get something to eat and maybe I could I tell you about your gift. You could really come in handy with what is going on in this situation.”
“Okay.” Then he and Tara left the hospital to discuss what exactly he was.
“Awe thanks Deb, but we were asking about Brian how’s he doing? It’s been ages since we’ve seen him, we don’t even know if he remembers us?” stated Sam.
“Well I heard that he was having a hard time yesterday, that some guy even broke in his room an attacked him. They are trying to keep me out of the loop but I know what’s going on. I know everything I’m the eyes and ears here.” Stated Deb.
“We know Deb, but what is it? Who was the guy you said that attacked him? Sam stated trying to get her back on track.
“I think that he said that he was Julian Amara. He’s a new guy that he was trying to establish some kind of agreement with because of his job but yea apparently it is not going well. They wouldn’t tell me about the attack but I hear that it can be something damaging. Anyways I’m going over there after work.”
“Thanks we’ll have the check now I guess we’re going to be leaving. Dean settle up I’m heading to the restroom I’ll be back.” Sam stated getting up.
Dean went back to eating his eggs. He loved the diner’s food. It was fantastic. He could feel Deb’s eyes on him but he was not going to give her the satisfaction of saying anything. He was just going to continue drinking his coffee and eating his eggs.
“Are you going to say anything? I played this game of not knowing you because I guess you haven’t told your brother yet, but we’re alone now so what’s the deal?”
“I didn’t have the time to tell him the things that have been going on in our everyday lives. We’ve been trying to save the world and other things so I haven’t had the time to tell him about the summer that I spent here, besides it’s not important.”
“Oh really? I don’t think that my son would think that it’s not important? What about Brian? You don’t think I’m stupid do you? I know what you do, you told me all of that and I know that this Amara guy is the kind of person that you deal with so I’m going to keep my eyes peeled and I know that you will take care of my boys.”
“That’s the problem Deb. I may have to take care of him permanently.”
“I don’t believe that one bit Dean Winchester. If anyone can save my boy it’s you. You have to do what ever you can to save him Dean. He’s been through a lot and I can’t loose him now.
Lindsay was curious. She couldn’t help herself. After she had seen Willow and her girlfriend have that dance at the club, something about the woman just opened up so many questions. She was young but assure of herself. She was happy in her own skin and she knew what Brian did. This was something that he had shared with her a long time ago, but to be here in the room with a Wicca. Wow that was just, wow.
“You can ask I don’t mind.” stated Willow.
“How did you know that there was something I wanted to ask?”
“I can tell, and I saw you and your partner the other night, how long have you been together?”
“About twelve years. Give or take a few rocky moments.” stated Lindsay.
“Oh I know about rocky moments. Tara died, and I tried to destroy the world, so yea I know about rocky paths.”
Lindsay really didn’t now what to make of all of that so she didn’t say anything.
“Do you think you guys can help Brian?”
“Yea, all we have to do is keep him away from this Julian guy, don’t worry we’re not going to let anything happen to him.”
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” shouted Justin entering Brian’s room.
“Justin I’m running a million dollar company I can’t just sit here in a hospital room and not go to work. Besides I’m fine Sunshine.”
“You can barely stand up and have you seen yourself in the mirror, even you wouldn’t want to go out looking like that I don’t believe. You have got to take it easy. That Giles guy is coming by the loft later and he needs to talk to you.”
“Buffy says that he won’t get here until noon, it’s eight, just let me go in the office and reassure them all that I’m not dead so they can stop celebrating and then I’ll meet you back at the loft at lets say 11:30? Ill be careful I promise.
Justin looked at Brian and decided that he could trust him to that. Ever since he had come back from New York Brian showed him that he could be trusted. Things were like they use to be and he liked it. He wasn’t like a Pod Person Brian but the Brian that he had fallen in love with and that was what made what they had special. Brian did look better then he had in the last couple of days, and what Buffy told him he had been doing he knew that he could more than take care of himself.
“Fine but not one minute after, and I’m going to call and check up on you, you got me.” Justin stated sternly.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“So what do you have for me Giles?” Buffy asked as she began pacing the living room of Brian’s estate.
“It’s not good I assure you, this Amara Clan they are a very complex bunch of vampires.” Giles stated.
“So they are vampires, but how are they moving around in the daylight. Oh and when that Julie guy was at the hospital Justin said that he disappeared in a pile of ash, it was all like poof fireplace dirt.”
“Yes, they have very complex abilities and they have rings that allow them to go in the day.”
“Yea but seems like the body count around here should be adding up if it’s a whole clan. Brian said he had to meet with the bored and there was over 20 members so why are we finding mysterious deaths left and right?”
“The Amara Clan don’t need to feed like the average vampire. They can pretty much rely on each other for any nutrients that they need that until the found the vessel.”
“The vessel” who the hell is that?”
“Apparently it’s your Brian and excuse me for asking Buffy but why haven’t we heard of him before now and why is it so important that you be here to do this for him.”
“It’s because of something that I saw when I was younger. Have a seat and I’ll tell you all about it?”
Giles sat back and listened to Buffy’s story. He didn’t let on that he knew of the story and what had happened in that club way back in the old days. He was there that night. He was tracking Julian Amara and he knew what he was and he definitely knew what Brian was. How could he tell her though? How could he get her to help her cousin without revealing the strong key points of the story? How did any expect him to do it? It would be hard but he knew that he could do it, scratch that he knew that was something that he had to do.
Melanie Marcus sat at the back booth in the diner with her son. Normally she wasn’t a fan of him having a cheeseburger and fries in the middle of a week day but a time like this was important. She knew that Gus had been worried about his dad. Gus was very observant and smart for such a little kid, and she could admit that now he had gotten that from Brian. He had gotten a lot from Brian and when they were younger something like that would have truly bothered her but now she knew the real Brian Kinney. She could see the guy that Lindsay could’ve easily fallen in love with. She could see that. So she took their son out for a burger to assure him that his father was going to be okay.
“Don’t worry momma, daddy is going to be just fine.” stated Gus matter of factly
“Oh really and how do you know that?” Melanie responded playing along.
“Grandpa told me.” Gus stated cramming two fries into his mouth.
To hear that from Gus’ mouth scared the shit out of her. What did he mean about Grandpa? Her father was dead, he didn’t know Lindsay’s dad that well. Not enough to call him grandpa and Jack Kinney was burning in hell as far as she knew.
“What do you mean grandpa? When have you seen your grandpa?” she asked trying not to seem excited.
“Oh he comes and see me sometimes when I go and stay daddy’s house.”
“Has Justin seen your grandpa?”
“Oh no, he says that it’s not time for him to meet Justin yet. He hasn’t been back since Justin came back from the city. He was always there though, when daddy was sad. He said he knew how to be sad, cause he’s sad a lot so it was our job to keep daddy happy. Can we go see him now? Can we go and see daddy?”
“Sure honey, I need to talk to your daddy anyways.”
Melanie was walking fast to her car with Gus. She wanted to know who this “grandpa” was and why in the hell didn’t anyone know who he was. She had heard that while they were in Canada Brian had gotten into some bad stuff and if he let some stranger….
Her thoughts were cut off as a man ran passed her and snatched Gus from her side.
“Momma!” he screamed
Melanie was about to shout for help when she was blinded a bright light and a man in a long black duster swooped down from the rooftop and attacked the man that had grabbed Gus. There was something wrong with there faces. If she didn’t know any better she would have sworn that the stuff that blonde had said at the hospital was true but no that couldn’t be. The rescuer had broken the guy’s neck and now was walking back up with Gus. As he got closer his face went from monster like to handsome. He was handsome he looked a little like Brian actually.
“Don’t worry, he’s alright. I’ve been following you I won’t let anyone hurt you or Gus.”
“Your Melanie right?”
“Yea.” Melanie answered checking Gus over.
“Are you alright honey?” she asked.
“Did you see momma? Grandpa Angel had on his Grr face. Did you see he fought him off and he had on his grr face wasn’t it cool” Gus announced ecstatically.”
