Don’t own Illyria or the Mass Effect Franchise. Joss Whedon and Bioware respectively.Summary:
Ever thought what would happen if the extraordinarily arrogant Reapers came across an equally arrogant, though more deservedly so, God-King? Part of the 20 Minutes with Illyria Challenge.
Time had passed slowly for Illyria, god-king of the primordium. She had spent the last hundred and fifty years in a state of almost perpetual boredom. No enemies worthy of her wrath existed in this world, the world she’d been forced to call home after the destruction of the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart.
That had been a long time ago. Now, as far as the humans were concerned, she was Gunnery Sergeant Winifred Burkle, stationed on the SSV Normandy SR1. The commanding officer of the ship had previously been an old warrior, the warrior within Illyria recognizing his weariness that she’d seen in many of the humans she’d allowed to accompany her over the years. Still, he had been strong.
The new commander, a woman interestingly enough from what she remembered of human discriminations, was what the galactic council called a Spectre. Said Spectre was tasked with the hunting down, and likely execution, of a rogue Spectre Saren Arterius who had used a race of rogue synthetics to attack several human colonies.
As the chase continued Illyria found herself more and more incensed at the idea of what was really behind the attacks, and the possibility of what they would try if they got the chance. These Reapers who would presume to exterminate a race she’d grown... oddly attached to. Not the humans, no. The pink-faced much could burn in the fires of creation for all the god-king cared, if it were not for the few that made them almost bearable.
No, she spoke of the Asari. The blue skinned beauties were... appealing to her. Particularly some of their more fierce models.
So, it was no real surprise to her when she came face to face with the one who called itself the “Vanguard of Their Destruction”, she did not react well. She’d used what power she could still access and pushed it through the hologram projector into this... insult to her sensibilities mind. Minds really, there were thousands of them and she ripped them all apart. Destroyed them with her power and allowed Winifred Burkle to leave her own body and enter the body of what HAD been the Vanguard’s shell. This would be interesting indeed.
Might continue it later but for now, this is an answer to a challenge.
